Wyatt “Pete” Thompson hails from Fredericksburg, Virginia, but has called Raleigh his home for the past 11 years. Pete as everyone calls him, graduated from North Carolina State University in 1994 with a degree in Environmental Science. After marrying his wife Laurie, the two joined the Peace Corps. He and his wife volunteered for 2 years in an Indian Village in Suriname, South Africa. After returning to the states, Pete went on to earn a Masters Degree in Crop and Soil Science from Virginia Technical College which landed him a job in the Crop Science Department at NCSU. Reflecting on the Peace Corps experience, coupled with his lifelong interest in the medical field, he decided to pursue a career in Health Science. He received his degree in Physician Assistant because he enjoys helping others, especially when they need it most.

Urgent care centers are type of walk-in clinic open beyond typical office hours. Urgent care clinics offer a broader scope of services than many primary care providers.

Unlike emergency rooms urgent care centers are not open 24 hours a day. Urgent care is for injuries that are severe enough to require immediate attention, but typically not life-threatening. For more serious injuries or emergencies, it’s best to call 911 or head to the emergency room.
